Coaching Conversations
Leader/Manager as Coach
With 70% of employees either neutral or actively disengaged in their jobs, employers are losing out. The coaching approach to management is a powerful way of involving employees that results in increased retention, collaboration and discretionary effort. This leads to greater productivity and efficiency and, ultimately, an increase to the bottom line.
Participants learn how to ask powerful questions of their direct reports to engage them to think through their own answers. Leaders develop staff members to be more independent. Highly experiential, this workshop requires participants to practice their new skills so they are ready to use them right away.
Length: full day
Powerful Communication
Understanding the Impact of Your Style
Virtually all work relationships can be improved with better communication. Using the DiSC assessment, participants learn about their own behavior and communication style and gain insight into style of others. Each individual receives a customized report that makes recommendations for better connections.
Participants gain specific strategies to meet others on their terms, one of the hallmarks of effective emotional intelligence.
Length: half day
A variation on this is the Everything DiSC Productive Conflict assessment that reports on participants’ conflict style. The report offers detailed analysis of each person’s individual style and insight into how others experience and respond to conflict.
Length: half day
Building a Team
The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team
We leverage the model Patrick Lencioni created as the healthy solution to his own Five Dysfunctions of a Team. We start with building trust so team members can have the necessary constructive conflict about ideas so that they feel heard enough to fully commit to group decisions. We build on the commitment so the team holds each other accountable and ultimately achieves their collective results.
We create a powerful learning experience and each participant receives a 40-page report that details their personal DiSC style plus how the group collectively assessed the team dynamics. This program is for intact teams.
Length: 1 to 3 days
Motivations
Strengths, Overused Strengths and Reactions to Conflict
TotalSDI identifies intrinsic motives that target the priorities and values impacting behavior. The interactive design creates a powerful learning environment for leaders and teams, as the learner’s own words and insights fuel the classroom dynamic.
Looking deeper than behavior, the TotalSDI assessments look at one’s relative emphasis on people, performance and process. Workshops can be customized to focus on the individual or group level, with reporting on as many sub groups as desired.
Length: half day to full day
Emotional Intelligence
How EQ Trumps IQ
Why are the smartest people in the room sometimes the hardest to work with? Often the answer is low emotional intelligence. Those with low emotional intelligence demonstrate poor self-awareness and unpolished relationship management. This workshop reveals the positive impact of high EQ and explores the specifics of 26 different competencies.
Participants complete online assessments and receive detailed personal reports with customized recommendations.
Length: half day to full day
Improvisation
Emotional Intelligence in Action
Communication issues are often at the root of most conflict. This highly-experiential session can be a big first step to improving trust, listening, creativity and teamwork. We build on the most basic improvisational building block of “Yes, And” to improve communication and collaboration.
Participants boost their awareness of how they relate to themselves and others in a fun and fully-accepting environment. They leave with more appreciation for personal flexibility and agility in a fast-moving world.
Length: 1 to 2 hours
What our clients Say
Lawrence – you showed what a skilled coach you are during the role playing- thank you! While you used the materials as your structure for training, I liked how you varied from that once in a while and mentioned relevant books or other resources for learning. I also appreciated your non-judgmental approach; that made the room feel safe. As an introvert I was surprised at how much more I was able to participate – your attitude enabled that.
